Within a short span of time Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University has positioned itself in a momentous site in the educational map. University Placement and Training Cell (UPTC) started functioning since February 2017. It is continuing as an effective institutional arrangement primarily aimed to train and place our P.G final year students in the Government and Govt aided organizations, academic institutions as well as best known corporate entities all over India. The Placement and training Cell of Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University aims to make available quality placement opportunities for the students.

ABOUT PLACEMENT AND TRAINING CELL
With the view to organize various activities related to skill development of the students for getting quality in- campus as well as off-campus placement and also to crack various competitive examinations in National as well as state level a dedicate Placement and Training Cell has been set up with the following members:

University is well aware about the age old proverb “First deserve than desire”. In this regard university is very careful to establish a sound academic background as well as skill to nurture the future workforce of the nations in a skill full effective way. The following steps have been taken by the University for this purpose.
The placement process is executed by the University Training and Placement Cell. Faculties and officers come together to form the committee. The committee decides on all key aspects of the placement process including:
Ø Identifying opportunities for jobs, fellowships, higher studies and communicating with the student body and organizations.
Ø Training on soft skills; communication, interview skills, resumes building, identifying interest areas, etc.
Ø Conducting placement events like practitioner lectures, seminars and workshops.
Ø Anchoring all communication with the recruiting organizations, facilitating smooth operations during pre-placement talks, interviews coordination and final offers stage processes.
(Infrastructural Development for nurturing the Prospective Employees)
University Central Computer Centre : The University has established a central Computer Centre with high speed internet and LAN for the students and other stake holders within the premises of University. It is fully functional since September 2016

Smart Class Room : To meet up the present advanced learning demand University established three numbers of modern Smart Class rooms. These rooms are fully equipped with air-conditioner, high tech Wi-fi and two way audio video receiving and transmitting systems.

Spoken Tutorial: With the help of IIT, Bombay the University has initiate to run spoken English tutorials as an extension curriculum of Computer triaging for the Students and as well as the Faculty Members. IIT, Bombay will provide the software free of cost.
Language Lab: Honorable Vice Chancellor desires to establish a Language Lab within our campus for the benefit of the students mainly. University has already received few proposals from different esteemed organizations to undertake the work.
We have already procured the relevant software and the training sessions have been arranged for the facilitators. Students are utilizing the facility.

Career Counseling Coaching Facility : The University has already started a Training & Placement Cell as directed by Honorable Vice Chancellor.
The Cell has started interacting with the different Departments and organizations who may visit the campus. A coaching classes for WBCS, WBFS & WBA&AS along with other competitive examinations are going to be started very soon.

Various Seminar\ Workshops: A good number of seminars and workshops of both National and State level have been organized in our University which reflects University’s constant strive for excellence in its intellectual pursuits.

A Step To All
UPTC has taken so many effective steps for the students. “Combined Coaching Center” is the latest one. This year SKBU Placement Cell has launched the ambitious programme of “Combined Coaching Center” for imparting coaching in NET, SET, RAIL, UPSC,PSC,SSC,WBCS, WBFS, TET and many others competitive examinations as the students are coming from a heterogeneous background and first generation learner to make them enable for prestigious govt job.
Free NET\SET Coaching Centre: The University is conducting a free coaching for NET/SET examination for deserving students of Semester III and Semester IV of this University. Total 507 students of Semester III and Semester IV applied for enrollment in the NET/SET Coaching Center. Out of which 100 Students have been shortlisted for enrollment in the coaching center based on their academic merit in UG and last PG semester. Coaching classes are being held two days in a week
Library at Placement & Training Cell for exclusively carrier related books:
Various job related books, periodicals are the pre-requisite materials for a successful placement and training cell. In this regard, we have set up library exclusively for carrier related issues.

A number of students have been recruited in various companies’ jobs and Govt. services since the last few years. Also the academic performance of our students in all India level examinations is quite notable. 57 students cracked UGC NET figuring success ratio 10.42% which is much higher than all India performance 6%.It is also very much encouraging to UPTC.
Over 450 students in five batches have graduated and we have an excellent placement record. Some key points are highlighted below
· Our students are placed in Government as well as research institutions, policy bodies, CSRs, quasi government institutions, schools and NGO space. The number of organizations and offers have grown up significantly over the last four years, evidencing that the social sector today needs competent people.
· The average salary for campus placements is in the range of Rs. 25000 – 30000 per month. Students with prior experience get higher compensation.
· Students also choose to pursue higher studies or pursue fellowships of interest to them

Company/ Organizations who are willing to participate in the campus placement process are provided with logistic supports. They are required to give a pre-placement presentation about the organization, roles available and other details. Based on this interested students attend interface/interview before them.
1. State-of-the-art Seminar Room with a seating capacity of 150 candidates for conducting pre-placement talks & written tests.
2. Fully Air conditioned Conference rooms for Group Discussions and Interview Room.
3. Fully Air conditioned Computer Center with 50(+) computers with LAN &Wi fi for computer test.
4. Training & Placement support staff for test and evaluation and other logistic arrangement.
5. Student volunteers/Placement coordinators for assistance during the placement visit.
6. Free Accommodation with quality food for the recruiters at the University-owned Class –I Guest house.
7. Transport arrangement from University to nearest point of pick-up to/from with Purulia town is arranged.
